Janice Preston has been managing projects for more than 20 years in industries as diverse as real estate, finance and the PC industry. Ms. Preston has been a principal with Pacifica Companies since 1991, consulting in project management for high tech companies in information services, new product development, telecommunications and automotive.
She writes and speaks in many areas of project management, including risk management, cost control, quality initiatives, team leadership and communication skills. Her clients include Nissan, Capital Group, Mazda, Allergan, Computer Sciences Corp., OCTA and Ericsson.
Prior to starting her own company, Ms. Preston was the General Manager of a ValCom Computer Center franchisee. While there, she implemented projects to convert accounting departments from manual to computerized systems and to install PC networks. She learned to manage a small business well and her franchise was one of the top 10 of 200 franchisees in the U.S. based on sales, management, training and reporting.
In the commercial real estate industry, Ms. Preston conducted project acquisition analysis for major office, industrial and retail properties at JMB Realty Corp., one of the largest real estate syndicators in the U.S. She assisted in the acquisition of over $200 million in project properties. In Chicago, Ms. Preston was a commercial real estate broker with Marcus & Millichap, selling retail convenience centers and apartment buildings.
While at Arthur Andersen & Co., she specialized in audits, manufacturing projects and cost accounting for clients such as Turtle Wax, Abbott Laboratories and Northwest Industries. In government contracts and litigation consulting, she worked with Honeywell, Homestake Mining and ITT Canon. Her responsibilities included project management and cost control, and training staff in client relations, communications, consulting practices, and audit procedures.
Ms. Preston has experience in the insurance industry with Allstate Insurance and in retailing with Federated Corp. She is an instructor in project management at the University of California-Irvine. She has an MBA with an emphasis in Finance and Accounting from the University of Missouri, and a BA from the University of Central Florida. She is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Project Management Professional (PMP ).
Ms. Preston is a member of the Project Management Institute and has served PMI-Orange County Chapter as the VP Professional Development, VP Finance and Trustee. She was an editor of the project risk management section of the 2001 Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge and is the Region II Director of the PMI Risk Management Specific Interest Group. She's also a member of the American Society for Training and Development, American Institute of CPAs, California CPA Society. Orange County Technical Network and Japan America Society.

Cyndi Snyder is a professional instructor, a consultant in project management and the author of health care textbooks. She has 10 years of experience managing a variety health care projects from public sector program development to acquisitions and system implementation. She is also an experienced project management instructor having taught for such clients as IBM, Computer Sciences Corporation, Southern California Edison and the LA Sheriff's Department.
Her consulting assignments have included system implementations, acquisitions and system upgrades. Prior to consulting, Cyndi worked for PacifiCare Behavioral Health as a Project Manager. She was instrumental in developing infrastructure for the project management department including forms, standards and processes. Projects included NCQA accreditation, acquisitions, plan integrations, and product development.
As an instructor for Cal Tech and the University of California Irvine Extension, Cyndi specializes in Introduction to Project Management, Earned Value Project Management, Procurement and Advanced Overview and Certification Preparation.. Cyndi also participates in the UCI Project Management Program Advisory Committee.
For individuals interested in preparing for the Project Management Professional (PMP ) designation, Cyndi created a website with over 950 practice questions. Cyndi wrote a PMP Exam Preparation class used by UCI, Project Management Institute (PMI) chapters and private industry. She was a Contributor to the Project Management Competency Model that is being published by PMI.
Cyndi is a member of PMI and is the Chair Elect of the Chapter Leadership Development and Excellence Committee for 2003 - 2004. She was President of the PMI-Orange County Chapter for 2001 and 2002. She was also elected as the PMI Director of Regional Advocacy for the Southwestern United States for 2002. Cyndi is a certified PMP and earned her Masters in Business Administration from Pepperdine University.
